CORREA VOTES AGAINST ANTI-CHINA LEGISLATION THAT WOULD CREATE UNFUNDED MANDATES FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
WASHINGTON — Today, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) voted against a slew of GOP-led initiatives that purport to target the CCP but will actually harm the U.S. economy and burden local law enforcement efforts:
“I sit on the Committee on Homeland Security; we are tasked with protecting our national security with exactness, not a shotgun. These were flawed and partisan pieces of legislation, including one targeting drones used by our local law enforcement partners, that is opposed by the National Association of Police Chiefs.
While we have made real progress on regaining America’s footing on the global manufacturing stage, we are still reliant on certain Chinese components—and it will take much more work before we sever all economic ties without hurting Main Street. Our national security must always be a priority, but so too should protecting our local economies.”
